Look for broad patterns
A mid-gray screen can make visible tint or brightness variation easier to compare. View straight on and from a normal distance; angle-dependent panels can change appearance across a large display. A simple browser pattern is a visual check, not an instrument measurement of uniformity.
Separate gradient content from processing
Banding can result from panel behavior, bit depth, color-management transformations or operating-system settings. The SVG and CSS gradient are rendered through the browser pipeline. This test cannot force a particular signal bit depth, disable HDR or replace a calibrated colorimeter.
Avoid unsupported repair claims
This viewer uses static patterns and has no rapid flashing repair mode. A changing image is not proof that a stuck pixel can be repaired. Follow the display manufacturer’s support guidance if an apparent defect remains visible across appropriate test patterns.
Make comparisons under stable conditions
Select mid gray and view the screen straight on. Keep room lighting, brightness setting and viewing distance constant while comparing the center with the edges. Then inspect white and black to see whether the same broad region remains conspicuous. A camera’s automatic exposure or white balance can exaggerate differences, so a photograph alone is not an objective uniformity measurement.
Switch to the gray gradient and look for visible steps or sudden tint changes. Repeat after documenting, rather than randomly changing, operating-system HDR and display processing settings. Changing several settings at once makes it hard to identify which part of the pipeline altered the appearance.
Understand what the exported pattern means
The requested width and height set the SVG pattern’s coordinate dimensions; they do not force the operating system to change resolution or the monitor to enter a particular mode. Browser zoom, scaling and image resampling can affect the displayed grid or gradient. Inspect at the native signal resolution when possible and use a measurement instrument when you need a numerical brightness, contrast, color or uniformity specification.
